Work Permits

A student work permit allows students to gain valuable work experience while ensuring that employment remains balanced with their education and well-being. In California, all minors under the age of 18 who have not graduated from high school or earned an equivalent credential are generally required to obtain a valid work permit before beginning a job. Work permits help protect students by ensuring they work in safe environments, follow state labor laws, and maintain their academic success while developing important career and life skills.

Students are welcome to apply for a work permit after they have been hired by an employer. To obtain a work permit, students must:

  1. adhere to Chino Valley Unified School District policy which requires they must maintain a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) and good standing attendance.
  2. use their current age to select the appropriate packet folder below on this webpage.
  3. print and complete their work permit packet.
  4. submit for processing.

Please allow three to four (3-4) business days to process.
